Golf on Grand Cayman

NOTE: At the present time, the Britannia is the only golf
course in operation on Grand Cayman as other courses recover following
damage from Hurricane Ivan.
BRITANNIA COURSE
Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman
West Bay Rd., Seven Mile Beach
345-949-8020, fax 345-945-3406
This Jack Nicklaus-designed course can be played as a nine-hole championship
course, an 18-hole executive course, or an 18-hole Cayman Ball course.
What's a Cayman Ball course? Well, this is the first one
in the world. Designed to go only half as far as a regular ball, the Cayman
ball makes the best use of the small course area on the island. This links-style
course, with the challenges of its seaside location, includes blind tee
shots, pot bunkers, and two-tiered greens. On the fifth hole, golfers
shoot over the Caribbean waters.
THE LINKS AT SAFEHAVEN
Seven Mile Beach
345-949-5988, fax 345-949-5457
NOTE: Still suffering the effects of Hurricane Ivan, The Links at Safehaven
remains closed as of spring 2006. Restoration of the golf course is currently
underway, and updates can be obtained either by referring to the venue's
website or by calling Davy Ebanks at 345-945-4155.
This is the only championship 18-hole golf course in the Cayman Islands.
Men are required towear shirts with collar and sleeves; women must wear
a shirt to cover shoulders. Golf carts are mandatory and operators must
be at least 17 years old and have a valid drivers license. Services at
the course include a golf pro for lessons, golf shop, putting greens,
chipping and bunker practice areas and an aqua driving range.
