Christmas Traditions in Cayman Traditionally, many homes had sand gardens. Raked clean, the sand gardens were often trimmed with conch shells and have paths paved with coral. On Christmas Eve, families would replenish the sand in their yard with fresh sand from the beach. No one really knows how the tradition got started but some suspect that, for the early Scottish residents, the fresh white sand reminded them of snow. Return to Grand Cayman Travel Guide |
