When to Visit the Cayman Islands The peak (read: most expensive) time to visit the
Cayman Islands is mid-December through mid-April. This is the busiest
time of year, a season when Americans and Canadians are looking for a
warm weather refuge, if only for a few days, and when hotels and condominiums
can charge their highest rates. You'll find equally pleasant weather conditions in
the "shoulder" seasons - fall and spring. Prices are somewhat
lower during these months and reservations are easier to obtain. In the
fall months, the busiest time is late October when the annual Pirates
Week blowout fills hotels with merrymakers.
Summer months are the cheapest look for rooms at
40-50off their peak rates. Late summer can bring the threat of hurricanes
but it's a minor threat. Good forecasting systems keep travelers aware
of any impending storms days in advance. Late summer (August and September) traditionally
spells a slow season throughout the Caribbean due to increased storm threat,
warm weather throughout the US, and back to school preparations. The Cayman
Islands, however, is offering plenty of summer temptation with deep discounts
on airfare, hotels, attractions, restaurants, watersports, and auto rentals. For the past several summers, the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism has operated extensive discount programs during the summer extending through the end of October. Some of these special programs are available only through travel agents so check with your travel professional if you are considering a trip during those months.
